About

Calgary Humanists

If you have connections to Calgary and you are devoted to the ethical and moral treatment of all human beings, then the Society of Secular Humanism is for you. We are a group of like-minded individuals that are devoted to promoting the principles of humanism and free thought throughout society.

  • In a world that seems to shun the opinions and viewpoints of the non-religious among us, we are a safe voice to come together and promote the principles and values of Atheism in a safe and welcoming environment.
  • It is important that Humanists have a platform to espouse their own views and promote a better sense of understanding throughout the community.
  • We believe in shaping our lives through the power of shared experiences. Because this is the only that we have, we work to make the most of every moment that we have here on earth. We want to help those around us to do the same.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

It goes without saying that humanists are individuals who are not religious. Many people are humanists without even realizing it.

Humanists look to science to explain the world around them. We also openly embrace the virtues of reason, empathy, and compassion to live out our lives in an ethical and meaningful way.

If that sounds appealing to you, then we encourage to have a look around our site. Read what we have to say and provide your own input as you feel comfortable. It is by being inquisitive that we learn from one another.

OUR GOAL

Our goal is to promote a deeper understanding of the world through logic. We also rely on reason and evidence to determine our place in this world and why we exist in the first place. Through it all, we do not condemn and we do seek to convict anyone who has a different belief than our own.

In actuality, you will find that Calgary Humanists are a group devoted to making the world a more warm and friendly place that is built on mutual understanding and respect for one another.

Humanists in Calgary continue to grow in number. We promote our membership by word of mouth and we work hard to provide educational content on our website. If you have any questions about what it means to be a humanist, please feel free to ask us.
